Hi, I’m Vijay Goel, MD, and this is my general blog (I have a health care focused blog at http://blog.consumerfocusedhealth.com)
I focus on innovation, technology, and making health more effective, affordable, and consumer-friendly.
I’ve had a less conventional background — I’ve been a physician, McKinsey consultant, entrepreneur and until recently was working on a project to create a $10M+ Health X PRIZE competition to fix health care.
Currently, I’m involved in the following:
- Consulting on health care, innovation, management/strategy
- Entrepreneur creating tools to inform/ simplify health choices
- Author writing “Innovation in the Crowd”, a book highlighting participation-based innovation platforms
- Operating “Bite Bar & Bakery”, my wife’s bakery/wine bar in Santa Monica
Please feel free to get in touch! You can email me at consumerfocusedcare(at)gmail(dot)com
I’ve begun to outline my path from Medicine to McKinsey to Main St. Specific articles below:
- Undergrad: Physiology as the beginnings of system thinking and understanding science as a messy debate
- Pre-Clinical Med School: Memorizing Facts as the Internet put them on my handheld computer
- Clinical Med School: Realizing Health improvement was outside the scope of medicine
